The Grayling girls and boys cross country teams competed at regionals this past Saturday in East Jordan. In the girls race, our lady Vikes had a great showing, with most setting season and personal records. Freshman Nico Triebold led the team with a 16th place finish with a time of 20:24, qualifying her for the State Championship. For the boys, it was another great race in which all of our Viking runners set personal records for the 5k course. Senior Drew Moore finished 5th setting a new school record of 16:14. Junior Tristan Demlow finished 14th with a time of 16:53. Both Drew and Tristan earned All-Region honors and both punched their tickets to the State Championship this weekend at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Good luck to all three of our State-qualifying runners! Special congratulations to Nico who left the cross country meet and traveled to Battle Creek where she placed 2nd in vault at a gymnastics competition the same day!

Jessica Campbell competed at the Division 4 girls golf State Championship on Friday and Saturday. Jessica finished in a very impressive tie for 18th place out of 111 competitors. She shot 94 on Friday and a 93 on Saturday for a total of 187. The weather was terrible and the course was just covered in water. On Friday, golfers sat through a delay to let the rain stop and the water run off the greens. Jessica definitely achieved her goal by placing in the top 20 and by making a 27 position jump from last year. Congratulations, Jessica, on a fantastic year and way to stay mentally tough!
