The varsity track team competed against tough competition at the Boyne Invitational on Tuesday. Bringing home two firsts was Rylan Finstrom in shot and disc. Kaleb Hall took 3rd in disc. Ethan Kucharek took 3rd in the 800m. And the 4x800 team of Ethan, Kale Black, Dominik Demeere, and Tristan Demlow took 3rd. Our first home meet is Thursday, so come out and support your track and field team.

The JV track team competed in the 18th Annual Harbor Springs 9th /10th Kiwanis Invitational. Emma Kucharek took 1st in the 100m hurdles. Nico Triebold took 1st in the 800m. Molly Wright took 2nd in the 400m. Vin Frittelli took 2nd in shot. Nico Triebold took 3rd in the 1600m. Jordan Peters took 3rd in the 110m hurdles. Girls 4x100 relay took 3rd.

Varsity tennis hosted Elk Rapids Tuesday and it became apparent why the Elks are ranked 9th in division 4. Our team played well but struggled to take points. At 2 doubles, Makynna Holmes and Karlie Smith won 6-1, 7-5. At 3 doubles, Brooklynn Laskowsk and Aryanna Florschuetz played a 5-7 first set and a 3-6 second set. Grace Fogle and Emma Smith played into a first set tiebreaker and dropped the 2nd set. The team travels to Harbor Springs Thursday.
The golf team won a quad match they hosted on Monday. Gage Modert placed 3rd with a 44. Bryce Malcolm shot a 45 for 6th place. Jimmy Calvin took 9th with a 46 and Marqus Parker finished 11th with a 47. The team travels to Elk Rapids on Wednesday and The Loop Classic on Friday.

The track team competed at the 19th Annual Ram Scram in Harbor Springs on Friday. The boys team took 3rd out of 7 teams and the girls took 4th out of 7 teams. Rylan Finstrom took first in shot and disc and broke the meet disc record with a combined throw of 270'10"; the previous record was 257'1". Kaleb Hall took first in shot and disc, as well. Leo Bertoncello took 3rd in the 100 meter. Ethan Kucharek took 1st in the 800 meter, followed by Kale Black. Drew Moore took 1st in the 1 mile. Jordan Peters took 3rd in the 110m hurdles. Nico Triebold took 2nd in the 800 meter. The coed 4x800 team took 2nd and the 4x400 team took 3rd.

Girls varsity tennis swept Traverse City Christian 8-0 Friday to improve to 6-0 for the season. Most of the matches were tough. Brittlynn Elliott, Jocelyn Millikin, Jayden Partello and Brylee Sheldon, Emma Smith and Sophie LaGattuta were all victorious in tiebreakers to pull out the win. The team will host Elk Rapids on Tuesday.

JV baseball dropped a doubleheader to Boyne City on Wednesday night, 2-12 and 3-21. Leo Nothstine had a hit with 2 stolen bases. Keaghan Parsell collected one hit and a walk. Brady Hunter had an RBI, one walk and two stolen bases. Caleb Gross pitched one inning and had three strikeouts along with a hit and an RBI. Max Huspen had a hit, an RBI and a stolen base. Vaughn Gaertner also collected 1 hit.
JV softball lost two games vs. Boyne City on Wednesday night. Boyne City won 18-17 during the first game of the series. For Grayling, Lahna Malonen was 1 for 1 with one RBI and two runs scored. Emily Kline was 1 for 2 with three runs scored and two RBI. Allesyn VanNuck scored three runs. Katy Hayden, Allyson Albert, and Elizabeth Turner each scored two runs. The Ramblers won 20-1 during game two. Malonen was 1 for 2. VanNuck walked and scored a run. The Vikings are now 8-3-1 overall.
The soccer team traveled to Elk Rapids and lost 5-0 on Tuesday night. Emma Kuziel was tough in net with 19 saves.
Varsity tennis started their Tuesday match with Gaylord with a 30 minute lightning delay. Once play started, rain moved in and the match was canceled. The team plays East Jordan at Boyne mountain on Thursday and Traverse City Christian at home on Friday.
On Saturday, Jonah Gildner, Del Patterson, and Deacon Stambersky competed at the State level of MSVMA Solo and Ensemble competition. This is a remarkable achievement, showcasing their talent, dedication, and hard work in the realm of music, so we sent them on their way with a Viking walkthrough,

This past week, Brittlynn took Boyne's #1 player to a 10-12 3rd set tiebreaker, defeated East Jordan's #1 6-4, 6-2, and defeated Charlevoix's #1 player 6-4, 6-1. Brittlynn is co-captain and has helped to lead her team to a 4-0 start for the season.
Gavin is a third-year thrower who does whatever you ask. He has had to learn to throw with both hands due to shoulder injuries and that hasn't slowed him down. He shows up every day with a positive attitude and a drive to get better. He is always coaching the younger athletes and assisting coaches with whatever is needed.

The track team competed in a quad meet in Elk Rapids. Rylan Finstrom took first in shot and disc and threw a PR of 43’5.5” and 138’7”. Kaleb Hall also took first in shot and disc throwing 41’4.5” and 114’11”. Allison Helinski took 3rd in both shot and disc. Kale Black took first in the 800 with a time of 2:11.55. Adrianna Soria took 2nd in the 1600. Tristan Demlow took second in the 800 meters. Nico Triebold took 2nd in the 3200. Men's 4x400 took second to end the night.

Boys golf shot a 369 to place them 7th out of 23 teams at the Cheboygan Golf and Country Club on Monday. With a score of 82, Gage Modert tied for 9th and earned a medal. Bryce Malcolm tied for 31st with a 92, and Jimmy Calvin's 96 tied him for 50th position. Of the JV players, Caleb Baker shot a 106 and Braiden Tuck a 109.

JV softball played at Alpena last night. Grayling won 19-9 during game one and tied 18-18 in game two. During the first game of the doubleheader, Allesyn VanNuck was 2 for 3 with four runs scored. Lahna Malonen was 2 for 5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Emily Kline was 3 for 5 with two RBI and four runs scored. Sarah Schade was 2 for 5 with three runs scored. Leah Kirmo was 2 for 5 with a double, a triple, four RBI, and two runs scored. Emma Tennant walked three times and scored four runs. Katy Hayden pitched for Grayling; she struck out seven. In game two, Alpena led 18-10 going into the bottom of the last inning, but the Vikings scored eight runs to tie the contest. VanNuck was 1 for 1 with three runs scored and one stolen base. Malonen was 2 for 2 with four RBI and one stolen base. Kirmo was 2 for 3 with four runs scored and three RBI. Kyleigh Ross was 1 for 3 with two runs scored. Elizabeth Turner scored two runs.

The soccer team took on Kingsley on Monday night. It was a tightly contested game with a 0-0 score at halftime. In the second half, your Vikes asserted themselves with hard shots from Lilly Odden, Quincy Stirling, and Edie Boik, pressuring the Kingsley goalie. Edie put one into the near post off of a free kick for a final score of 1-0. Emma Kuziel had 7 saves in goal.

Varsity baseball split with Oscoda on Friday, losing 3-5 and winning 10-2. In game one, Corbin Allen pitched 4.2 innings, giving up three hits and five runs, walking two and striking out nine. Brodie Gross started game two, pitching 2.1 innings, and gave up one hit and two runs, walked five and struck out five. In relief, Austin Schwartz pitched 3.2 innings. He struck out six and allowed no walks or runs, giving up only one hit. Brodie and Aydden Clark each hit homers. Brodie also had a double, three RBI and scored two runs and Aydden scored two runs and stole two bases. Jake Huspen hit 3 for 6 with two RBI and one run scored. Corbin also hit 3 for 6 with a triple, three RBI, three runs and a stolen base. Austin hit three doubles and scored two runs.

Congratulations to the Mario Kart Team of Abelina Sanchez, Nick Michels, Jonah Gildner, Patrick Hayden and Logan Mertes for beating the 9th team in the state last week, making it into the top 8 of the playoff rounds for all Michigan schools! They play the number 1 seed today at 4 p.m.

Varsity tennis improved to 4-0 with a 6-2 win over Charleviox Thursday night. Brittlynn Elliott had an impressive 6-4, 6-1 win over the Raiders #1. Jocelyn Millikin played to a 6-3, 6-4 win against a pretty evenly matched #2. Gracie Fogle filled in at number 3 for an injured Alyssa Huber 1-6, 3-6 in her first ever singles match. Katie Mahaffy played to a 7-5, 6-3 win in a well deserved victory at #4. The doubles team of Jayden Partello and Brylee Sheldon dominated 6-0,6-1 at 1 doubles. Makynna Holmes and Karlie Smith played well with a 6-4, 6-2 win at 2 doubles. Aryanna Florschuetz and Brooklynn Laskowski split sets and played a 5-7 tiebreaker followed by a 9-11 match tiebreaker. Emma Smith and Jojo Bidwell kept it together, winning in 2 sets 6-3, 7-5. JV players Ellie Muraida and Sophie LaGattuta, Lahken Forbes and Brooklyn Barnett, Ava Huber and Dakota Batway, Isabelle McAteer and Kailan Do all got matches in. Lahken and Brooklyn took a point with a 6-0, 6-2 win and Ellie and Sophie took their match to a 10-12 tiebreaker. The team plays Gaylord at home on Tuesday.
